A schools assessment data is invaluable. Teachers record the pupil achievements and this is used in so many ways. It becomes a backbone of a school, with so many areas feeding into the assessment or using the assessment data.

Connecting Steps automatically takes a backup every day. This backup is stored on the computer or server on a local hard drive. We build a catalogue of backups on your computers/servers, annual backups, monthly backups and backups from the last 7 days are all stored on the computer in case of failure or error.

These backups however, are not enough. If anything happens to this computer or server, your data can still be lost. We highly recommend schools take offsite backups that will further protect their assessment data.

B Squared can now offer an online backup solution. This solution will encrypt and copy the Connecting Steps data to a secure online server each day automatically. The managed solution means that your data is safe in the event of machine failure or human error.

As a managed solution, this means the backup is setup by B Squared remotely and is monitored by B Squared throughout the contract. If a backup is missed or fails, B Squared are notified and can alert the school to the problem. Being automated means no one can forget to take a tape home, forget to replace the tape in the server, forget to check if there is enough space on the backup drive, it is all automated and requires no monitoring. This gives schools complete peace of mind that their assessment data is safe in the event of failure or human error.

The data is encrypted and compressed before it is uploaded via an SSL connection. The data is encrypted using a passkey that is unique to that school, it cannot be decoded without this key so only the school can decrypt their data. The data is stored on secure servers in a secure location. This means your data is securely uploaded and securely stored.

In the event of failure, schools can request their data from B Squared and they can then download their data ready to be reloaded into Connecting Steps.

We offer 2 packages, one for backing up Connecting Steps data on a single laptop or desktop and one for backing up Connecting Steps and other files from a server or multiple computers. The backup software is installed and setup by B Squared via a remote support session and does not require an onsite visit. The software can be moved to another computer if required at a later date without further setup costs.

Our Laptop/Workstation backup solution works with computers running XP, Vista and Windows 7, it will backup your Connecting Steps data at a set time each day. Your computer must be on for it to upload your data and the computer must have internet access even when unattended.

Our server/multiple computers backup solution includes 25GB storage space, so schools can back up other important files. All data is compressed before uploading, so you will be able to store more than 25GB. Data compresses at different rates, text files and documents compresses roughly by 50% and images by up to 50%. Schools can use the 25GB to store curriculum documents, evidence, photos and more. If you require more than 25Gb of space please contact us for prices.

Pricing

If a school has a remote support contract with B Squared for their Connecting Steps software then the setup fee does not apply.

If payment is not received within 60 days of invoicing, the account will be disabled.

Schools will be invoiced automatically 30 days before the end of their contract for the next years service. If the school does not wish to renew the contract, they must notify us before their current contract expires.
