Speakers already confirmed for the first Virtual SEND Conference include Lorraine Petersen OBE, Jane Friswell and Hannah Moloney. The Programme, covers topics that help to support teachers at classroom level, including:
• Results of National SENCO Workload Survey
• Supporting dyslexia & ASD in mainstream settings
• Combating lack of funds
• Understanding Ofsted’s new inspection framework
• Developing a whole school approach to supporting positive mental health
• Practical high impact strategies for supporting children with SLCN in EYFS
• Understanding policy developments for children and young people with SEND
“This conference is about supporting schools to support their pupils with SEND, in a time when schools are facing ever increasing financial pressure,” says Dale Pickles, Managing Director at B Squared. “Over recent years we have seen big changes around supporting pupils with SEND, with little funds to fully implement these changes. Professionals working with pupils with SEND need support and guidance on a wide range of areas they are required to be experts on. It has to be affordable, easily accessible and easy to share with others in the school to help raise the priority of SEND in schools.”
Successful FREE webinar programme sparked idea for a low cost online conference
Early in 2018 B Squared started hosting FREE webinars aimed at helping teachers to keep up-to-date with changing government guidelines surrounding children with SEND. The success of these webinars led to a logical conclusion to host a virtual conference that would enable B Squared to invite experienced and well recognised education sector speakers to further expand on the topics that teachers are asking for more information about.
Benefits of a virtual conference
A virtual conference is one that takes place online. Instead of a number of seminars there are a number of webinars (web-based seminars). The speakers use a webcam and microphone to deliver their presentation across the internet directly to participants, at a fraction of the price of a traditional conference. Teachers also have the opportunity to ask all the speakers questions and network in the break using chatrooms. The virtual SEND Conference enables schools to save money, eliminate travel and access content anytime to share with their school. Its aim is to remove the barriers of cost and time faced by teachers wanting to attend a conference. All teachers need is a computer, tablet or phone with a good internet connection, and B Squared will provide full support on the day. Book a place at the Virtual SEND Conference, save money and be inspired!
