Connecting Steps is a really useful tool for tracking progress. It has given us a framework for assessment that is standardised for pupils with SEN. This has been invaluable for our school as it has enabled us to measure progress, moderate our assessments and share best practice.
Working with B Squared enables us to track progress for all our pupils, no matter the need or ability, under the same assessment umbrella. We know that pupils are being assessed in an area which is right for them and is up to date with current legislation and government guidance.
Working with B Squared has simplified how we track and assess progress. Using Connecting Steps for assessment we have data to hand when needed. We can access supporting evidence of learning quickly using Evisense, which has made evidence much easier to collect, store and present.
From September 2023, we will use B Squared's new Connecting Steps Analytics as our sole platform for the analysis of progress data. It will revolutionise assessment at the school and benefit staff workload, allowing for a greater focus on what matters the most – student learning.
Using Connecting Steps enables us to discuss progress in an informed way that is standardised across the whole school. Our educational aim for a uniform data package is met, whilst multiple assessment frameworks to meet a variety of learning needs enable us to show progress for all of our pupils.
B Squared's Connecting Steps has allowed us to celebrate successes on a micro level. This means we can still show progress for pupils who make slower improvements or for those going through a tough time. Experiencing small successes is so important for our pupils and our teachers.
Connecting Steps has given our teaching staff the confidence to accurately track children’s data and use it to inform future planning. This has lead to a more accurate knowledge of our pupils’ strengths and difficulties, more precise teaching and better outcomes for children with SEND.
B Squared’s assessment software makes tracking and monitoring data across school easy. It’s simple to use and has given staff a common language when it comes to assessment. Most importantly, we can now celebrate every step of progress a child makes, not just the larger blocks.
Working with B Squared, we have found an assessment system that we can intrinsically link into our ambitious curriculum - from Early Years through to Preparation for Adulthood. We can now see the sustained progress our pupils are making and share these successes with parents.
B Squared has played an important role in helping to unify our school's assessment approach, reduce workload, and clarify how we measure progress. Using multiple assessment frameworks within Connecting Steps, we can now assess the progress of ALL of our pupils with mixed abilities in one assessment system!
B Squared’s Connecting Steps allows us to demonstrate student progress in a range of ways which suits our learners better as progress is not always linear. The small step descriptors ensure we can acknowledge all of our children’s achievements, building a clear picture of each child’s individual learning journey.
22 Additional Support Needs provisions in South Lanarkshire are using Connecting Steps and Evisense. Data gathered about the progress of pupils with ASN is now more relevant and accurate. This brings it in line with Mainstream, achieving the Council’s aim to make measurement of ASN progress in learning equitable.
B Squared really understands what is needed in a SEMH setting. I would highly recommend its Connecting Steps software for both mainstream and special settings. It is a rigorous assessment system that informs planning and supports senior leaders to make informed curriculum decisions.
In our setting, the best aspect of B Squared’s Connecting Steps is the small steps of progress each level is broken down into. This allows us to track tiny increases in development. This is vital when working with learners with PMLD, who may only make very small steps of progress.
